Commodity manager

The Commodity Manager has overall responsibility for supplier sourcing, relationship management and commodity market knowledge within their defined category. This includes identifying, developing and maintaining strategic alliances with best in class/world suppliers, using purchasing best practices, and involving suppliers in new product development programs. Commodity Manager will also be responsible for suppliers' performance through the use of standard rating systems. Commodity Manager will be accountable for understanding the market conditions for their assigned commodities, and develop contingency plans to ensure critical supply needs are met.

General Responsibilities:

Lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to evaluate and select best in class / worldclass suppliers for assigned commodities.
Analyze spend for assigned category and reduce total cost of ownership.
Develop/obtain market analysis for assigned commodities.
Negotiate multi-year contracts for assigned commodities.
Drive productivity opportunities in a team environment to reduce total cost.
Develop Vendor Managed Inventory programs to reduce risk and costs.
Coordinate Quarterly Business Reviews with strategic suppliers.
Work with Morey Supplier Development group to define supplier performance metrics and report those results to suppliers.

Requirements
Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college, Masters degree a plus
C.P.M. and/or APICS certification preferred

Qualifications:
5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment - Leading and improving a team, experience managing multiple suppliers and large number of SKU's

Prior salaried leadership / direct reporting responsibility - prefer at least 2 years

Experience purchasing electrical components preferred
Demonstrated history of achievements and quantifiable accomplishments: Looking for resumes showing achievements (i.e. not only cost savings, but how you got there), goal driven, metric driven (ex. reduced 3,600 supplier list by 13% by doing X, Y & Z).
